Metro Screen: Multiplatform Screen Producer Course Scholarship 2010

Metro Screen has designed this accredited Advanced Diploma of Screen
and Media [CUF60107] scholarship course to offer talented aspiring
producers the opportunity to hone their skills and take their careers
to the next level.

For those with a passion for bringing compelling stories to audiences.
The course structure and focus reflects the industry need for producers
to now work across all screen platforms and equips them with the
skills to deliver content on time and on budget.
Aimed at those with prior production experience, which may include:
production coordinator, production assistant, post production
supervisor, producer of a funded short film, researcher, runner on a
large-scale feature.
Produce two major projects as part of this course to add to your portfolio:
Concept Development Project. Develop a concept, work from story to
business model and be mentored by industry professionals. Pitch this
project to an industry panel at the end of the year.
Online Project. Participants will each receive a project brief, to
scope, design and build a website using Web 2.0 interactivity. Core
modules encompassing training in Flash, Photoshop, HTML editing and CMS
building will be incorporated into course structure. Upon completion,
each participant will have contributed to the development of a complete
online work and feel confident to fulfil the role of an online screen
producer.
More highlights include:
• Hone above-the-line skills from financing and budgeting to
intellectual property management, strategic marketing, pitching and
negotiation.
• Gain a range of advanced below-the-line skills relevant to
production managers and unit managers: in pre, production and post.
• Improve technical production know-how across online, TV and long-form
• With sessions on story telling and script development, delivered
by experienced writers and script advisors, concepts will be tested and
refined.
• Produce all aspects of a multi-camera TV show to be streamed live online.
The course is designed to provide a range of conceptual and practical
skills that will prove invaluable for all future projects. Theory is
combined with practice through intensive workshops where production
tasks are delivered to deadline and hypothetical time-critical
challenges overcome.
